Gary's 18th Birthday.

11th March was Mr Smalleyes. Gary's birthday !

In the morning, went to Suntec IT fair with my mum, Liyu, Ruikiat, Junhong and Yeowcheong.

Gary joined us later on & they went back earlier to help out for the BBQ .

I finally bought WII ! Its mario red edition.

Soon after we bought WII, Liyu & I went to Gary's place & my mum went home.

I thought they already prepared the BBQ, but who knows...

I still got to sacrifice my precious hands to start the fire with charcoal...

Anyway, we had a great time having BBQ.

& Gary was drunk. Half-drunk while cutting cake, hahaha . Cute !

After BBQ, walked to MRT with Junhong.

Went to The Bottle Tree on 13th March to celebrate Grandma's birthday.

Have you ever wondered why is the sky blue ?
Here is something interesting to think about:
When you look at the night-time sky, it's black, with the stars and the moon forming points of light on that black background.
So why is it that, during the day, the sky doesn't remain black with the sun acting as another point of light?
Why does the daytime sky turn a bright blue and the stars disappear?
The first thing to recognize is that the sun is an extremely bright source of light -- much brighter than the moon.
The second thing to recognize is that the atoms of nitrogen and oxygen in the atmosphere have an effect on the sunlight that passes through them.

There is a physical phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering that causes light to scatter when it passes through particles that have a diameter one-tenth that of the wavelength (color) of the light.
Sunlight is made up of all different colors of light, but because of the elements in the atmosphere the color blue is scattered much more efficiently than the other colors.

When you look at the sky on a clear day, you can see the sun as a bright disk.
The blueness you see everywhere else is all of the atoms in the atmosphere scattering blue light toward you.
Because red light, yellow light, green light and the other colors aren't scattered nearly as well, you see the sky as blue.

~Energy of a river.

When the speed & volume of a river are high, the energy of the river will be high. (vise versa)

**The amount of energy a river has will determine if its able to erode, transport or/and deposit materials.

Factors affecting the SPEED of a river

1) Gradient of channel

If the gradient is steep, the river will flow quickly. (vise versa)

2) Roughness of channel

A river with smooth channel (fewer obstacles) will have a higher speed. (vise versa)

3) Wetted perimeter.

If the wetted perimeter is large, more water comes into contact with the channel. Thus, alot of friction is generated.
This causes the river to flow slowly.

Factors affecting the VOLUME of water

1) Size of drainage basin

The bigger the drainage basin, the greater the amount of water. (vise versa)

2) Pressence of vegetation

Less surface runoff flows into the river and the volume of water is lesser. (vise versa)

A river flowing through an area with less permeable rocks will most probably have a larger volume of water.

4) Climate

Areas with high rainfall will have higher volume of water.

FORMATIONS OF LANDFORMS

Waterfalls

A river flows across rocks of different resistance.
The river erodes the less resistance rocks more rapidly then the resistant rocks. This causes a change in the gradient of the river.
Overtime, the river plunge from a great height to hit the riverbed below with tremendous force. This forms a waterfall.
Repeated pounding on the riverbed causes a depression which is deepened as rocks and boulders swirl around, known as plunge pool.

Gorges

When a river flows through an area with resistance rocks by its sides, it can only erode the channel vertically. Overtime, a deep, narrow and steep-sided valley known as gorge is formed.

Floodplains and Leeves

When the river floods, materials will be deposited at the sides of the river.
The deposited materials build up on both sides of the river.
Overtime, a wide and flatplain called Floodplains are formed.
The heavier and coarser materials nearer to the river form raised banks called Leeves.

Meanders

Meanders are formed by a combination of erosion, transportation and deposition along a river.
Meanders are curves and bends along a river which are usually found in the middle or lower course.
Erosion occours on the outerbank and the eroded sediments are transported and deposited at the innerbank
The water moves in a sprial fashion.

Ox bow lakes

Meanders can become so distinct that it developes into another feature called Ox-bow lake.
With constant erosion along the outerbanks of two meanders, they move closer to each other forming a loop.
The loop is seperated by a narrow neck of land.
With continuous erosion and deposition, the neck gets narrower.
The sediments deposided will eventually damp up the water in the cut-off forming ox-bow lake.

Deltas

Its an accumulation of alluvium and sediments at the mouth of a river.
Overtime, as more alluvium is deposited, the delta extends outwards into the sea forming distributaries.

Sports day is on Thursday which everyone thinks its inappropriate.

coz Friday we still had to go back sch !! its very tiring...

we had lotsa fun !!

Went to Malaysia for a school trip on 16mar.

Had been really busy last week.
Sat to tue was busy 'bai nian-ing'
Got many many hong baos XP

Wed to fri, had Adam Khoo's 3days motivational workshop.
Butt, Adam was not here in person. LOLS
we had 3 coaches/trainers.

Melvin (the one ii liked most), Bong & Jeff.
the workshop is very fun !! though we cried alot.
hahas.
The first day we almost laughed throughout the whole workshop.
the coaches/trainers were damn funnyyyy & humorous XD

Second day, we cried the hell out.
its Melvin who made us laugh the most & also cry the most...
he talked about our parents..
very very touching. even boys were crying...

Third day, was the closing ceremony.
our parents were invited here.
& we, the students will need to go infront and speak to our parents.
actually ii wanted to.
but, 4Es are there tooo.
so scared to go up. lols.
many many ppl went up & most made me cry.
it is a very memorable & touching moment.

but ii took piic with many others.

anyways, we went to celebrate Karen & mum's BD ytd.
went to eat buffet in the morning with families.
then went to eat steamboat with our LFI GANGG ! .

then, went to DRAGONFLY ! .

met Deehell seven & Stefyy they all XD
we were sitting with Uncle Max(a super reg there)
he will be there everyday ! tsk ...

hahas. ii really regreted why nv take piic with SLY !!!.
